UP has always been a troubled spot for communal violence for
decades. Even the promise of fair political practice of Akhilesh Yadav stands
betrayed as there are 27 communal incidents recorded since March 2012. The recent
Muzaffarnagar violence has its root in August 27 clash over a spate of killings
involving two communities and this spark developed into a fire, thanks to the
UP government and to be more particular Muzaffarnagar District Administration
and political manipulation.
2014 elections are approaching and the rival political efforts and common political aspirations have tempered the tensions over religion and caste identity that exploded in violence. The irony for SP government is that it successfully stopped 84 Kosh Yatra sponsored by VHP on the grounds of brewing communal tension but failed to avert the riot sparked from the killing of three youths. Both the BJP and SP are struggling to outline their core appeal for 2014 election.

There are various players who will be affected by the Muzaffarnagar violence and the immediate impact of the incident could be an electoral benefit to both SP and BJP.
The communal violence is going to give a big setback to the electoral prospects of Ajit Singh led RLD as the traditional Jat-Muslim alliance is now in tatter, as the Jats seems to be finally shifting towards BJP. It is doubtful whether the SP will benefit of the communal divide since the common people are extremely critical of the ruling government. Azam Khan, a prominent Muslim leader, who was earlier seen castigating the SP government for not protecting the minorities later on himself found surrounded with allegation, on being exposed in a sting operation, for pressurizing the cops to go slow down in controlling the riot.
BSP is blaming the SP government, fearing that if the riot is going to help SP and BJP, it will definitely affect BSP as well as Congress adversely.
The kind of blame game going on between various political parties at the cost of innocent lives is against the principle of democracy and humanity. The political parties should be careful and not allow the disaffection and brewing hatred to persist.
